Sunny Side Up Group (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Etsuko Tsugihara) will establish the Social Good Promotion Office on July 1, 2021 (Thursday) to promote solutions to social issues through the know-how and expertise of public relations (PR). This office will carry out activities centered on the concept of “Something Good” with a platform for solving social issues that integrates human resource development, project formation, investment, business support, and more.
■Solving social issues through PR, a challenge we have taken on for over 30
As a PR communications group, we have been involved in several projects aimed at solving social issues since before the adoption of the SDGs. Some of these projects include THE WHITEBAND PROJECT, a global advocacy initiative to eliminate poverty, Carbon Offset New Year’s Postcards, which contributed to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and the TAKE ACTION FOUNDATION FOOTBALL MATCH, which achieved regional revitalization and social contribution through soccer, and RockCorps, a concert that combines volunteerism and music.
In recent years, we have been actively supporting the PR activities of companies and organizations that are working on solutions to environmental, educational, gender and other issues identified in the SDGs. For more than 30 years, we have challenged the solving of social issues from the perspective of PR and communication, and have grown into a corporate entity that embodies the Social Good (i.e., something that has a positive impact on the global environment and society).
■Creating projects that promote social reform through the collection of Something Good actions from companies and organizations
With less than 10 years remaining until the 2030 deadline for achieving the SDGs, various companies and organizations are diligently working to solve social issues in their own ways. We believe that the key to accelerating social change is for companies and organizations with businesses and assets that have a positive impact on the global and social environment, and Sunny Side Up Group, which has expertise in PR and communication that is skilled in building social momentum, to bring together and co-creating “Something Good”. Keeping this in mind, we will establish the Social Good Promotion Office, with the aim of co-creating and achieving solutions to social issues by utilizing our PR know-how and expertise transcending corporate and organizational frameworks.
■Functioning as a Social Good Hub for each of our group companies
The Social Good Promotion Office will act as a hub to connect the information, expertise, and staff involved in Social Good that are available in each of our group companies. We will form a team of internal and external professionals to create a co-creation platform in which various companies and organizations can participate, through a multifaceted combination of communication methods such as media relations and promotion, as well as public affairs (outreach to the public sector, etc.) and advocacy (awareness-raising activities and policy proposals). The office will create social projects (projects that have a positive impact on the environment and society) through collaboration with companies and organizations which are tackling social issues in order to promote social change.
